How to Get From Toledo to Cordoba?

The best way to experience Spain is to visit as many cities as you possibly can fit into your schedule. Quite often people choose to see Cordoba during their journey, and then they want to travel to Toledo next and see the incredible sights there as well.

I was recently asked by a reader how to make this trip, so I did a little research and I found out that you can get from Cordoba to Toledo by high-speed train, by bus, or by car. It takes about 3 hours to reach Toledo by high-speed train, about 3.5 hours by car, and around 6 hours or more by bus.

Travel from Toledo to Cordoba by high-speed train

The best way to get between Toledo and Cordoba is to take the AVE high-speed train, which takes about 3 hours.

Toledo is unique in that it only has train service to Madrid, which means that in order for you to reach Toledo from any other Spanish city you will have to connect in Madrid.

You will end up taking the AVE high-speed train to Madrid, then taking the Avant high-speed train from Madrid to Cordoba.

How to buy a train ticket

You can purchase your train ticket online using the Renfe website. Sometimes people get frustrated because they choose to display the website in English, which it does, but as soon as you proceed to purchase your tickets it reverts back to Spanish. But I have confidence that you can handle this minor inconvenience, you got this!

How much does a ticket cost?

Generally, it will cost you around €70 more or less to take the high-speed train from Cordoba to Toledo. I got a ticket price of €66.70 when I made a reservation on the Renfe website.

Travel from Cordoba to Toledo by bus

There are two options for traveling by bus from Cordoba to Toledo, and as you can imagine those options are direct and indirect.

In this case, the direct bus actually takes the longest. Once you leave Cordoba you travel north towards Toledo, making stops along the way in the cities of Fuentecaliente and Cuidad Real.

Total travel time for taking a direct bus to Toledo is around 7 to 7.5 hours. Keep in mind that this does include a 2-hour wait in Cuidad Real in order to transfer to the bus to Toledo. The bus from Cuidad Real only runs a few a day, currently at 7 am, 2 pm, and 4:15 pm.
